CPL
gave 6000 Pongame saplings to Pakistan Railways for plantation
on two sites – Sihala Railway station and Margala
Railway Station I-9 Islamabad.
Sihala
Railway Station
On 23rd July 2005, a tree plantation ceremony was held on
at Sihala Railway Station. Participants included Pakistan
Railways Rawalpindi Division officers, CPL members, and
representatives from AEDB. Clean Power donated 1000 saplings
for plantation at Sihala.

Superintendent Rawalpindi Division Mr. Noor Mohammad Mahsud,
and Division Engineer Mr. Arshad Salam Khattak, for providing
CPL to become a part of this activity.
Margala
Railway Station
On 30th August 2005, an Inaugural Ceremony of the Pilot
Project on Bio-diesel between AEDB, Pakistan Railways and
CPL was held at Margala Railway Station I-9. The chief guest
was Secretary / Chairman Railways Mr. Shakil Durrani. The
ceremony was attended by, in addition to senior management
of Pakistan Railways, Chairman AEDB Air Marshall (Retd.)
Shahid Hamid, Secretary AEDB Brig. Nasim Khan, and other
officers of AEDB.
CPL
is grateful to Pakistan Tobacco Company that donated 5,000
Pongame saplings to be planted at Margala Dry Port.
Ceremony video
This
ceremony marked the beginning of a long term relationship
between Pakistan Railways and CPL. Mr. Shakil Durrani gave
instructions to plant 1 million Pongame trees within 1 year,
as part of an effort to build Railway’s own supply
source for Bio-diesel. Negotiations are underway between
CPL and Pakistan Railways for large-scale plantation along
railway tracks.
