Wind Power |
Wind
offers an inexpensive, clean and reliable form of power. Unlike
fossil fuels, wind power cannot be depleted and produces no
pollution. Wind energy has become one of today’s lower
cost renewable energy technologies. Following the OPES Oil
Embargo of 1973, interest in wind energy resurfaced in response
to climbing energy prices and questionable availability of
conventional fuels. |
Clean
Power has expertise in end-to-end project management of
wind-mill projects in Pakistan, with practical in micro
wind turbines.
|
During
the last decade there is a tremendous increase in the
energy requirement which is being fulfilled by different
power generation means and among which the wind energy
has the priority for mega watt capacities. There is
a rapid increase in power generation through wind world
wind during the last decade. |
 |
The
advanced of wind engineering has led to tremendous increase
in wind turbines sizes. In 1978 the typical rotor diameter
was 16 meters which become upto 126.3 meter by 2004.
|
 |
Presently,
rotors with diameter more than the height of Statue
of Liberty have been produced.
|
 |
Pakistan
has a 1,046 Km coastline in the South. Average wind
speed is more than 7 m/s in Gharo Wind Corridor and
estimated wind potential is more than 50,000 MW. This
huge potential is waiting to be exploited
|
 |
|
India is our neighbor country and has almost similar geographic
location as that of Pakistan.
India
has an installed capacity of more than 4000 MW on the
same wind. Corridor which passes through Pakistan
before entering Indian territory.
Thus there is no point in not utilizing the natural
asset. |
 |
Government
of Pakistan has taken an initiative to utilize AE /
RE sources of Pakistan. Alternate Energy Development
Board (AEDB) is facilitating the projects as one window
operation. AEDB has a mandate to reach 9700 MW power
through AE / RE by year 2030 as directed by President
and Prime Minister. |

Micro Wind Turbines |
CPL
has put in engineering efforts to develop & test micro
wind turbines. The objective is to serve at grass root level.
The concept is reverse of an exhaust fan. Plastic blades of
fan are connected to a DC motor. The fan blade acts as rotor
and motor is used as generator.
This
innovative concept using local resources makes wind turbines
of as low as 25-50 watt. However, the selection of profile
& configuration are important.
The
potential of success is hidden in use of existing components
with slight modification without advanced engineering, which
keeps technology lean & costs down. |
